34th Avenue Oral History & Play in City Streets

Tuesday, February 20th, 2024, 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.

Virtual event

34th Avenue in Jackson Heights is considered the gold standard of New York City’s Open Streets, a program that closes designated roads to cars and opens them to people. Bridget Bartolini will tell the story of creating 34th Avenue Oral History, a project that documents this important street, as well as share interview and video clips, and discuss what this new public space means to people who use it. After the presentation, join a discussion about public space and share your memories of playing in the street.

This event will be held via Zoom. Please register at https://dorotusa-org.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwtce2uqTMrEtIgh6Kdal57COpb7jWcv6DF

Presented in partnership with DOROT, a nonprofit organization addressing the challenges of an aging population, and Queens Memory Project, an archive that collects personal histories, photographs, and other records of contemporary life in Quens.
